The Lee’s place is looking more like the car park at a builder’s merchants now we’ve added Colin’s truck on loan.
We needed something for tonight’s tea so started the day with a shopping spree in Rufec. Jo didn’t go so we three blokes came back with this in the back of the van:
Expanding foam
Galvanised nails
Gripfill
Trunking
Pair of boots (Adam’s lost his old ones)
Timber battons
Soap (x6 - souvenir for the Bowdens)
Bag of plaster
Beer (x12)
Mop heads (x2)
Petrol strimmer (a bargain but forgot fuel mix to try it out)
Spontex sponges (x9 - on offer, Bowdens)
Bottle of Cognac (The nice VS Gautier)
Grout (dark grey)
As usual forgot to take the bags into the supermarket so walked out with the soap bulging from pockets, dragging strimmer, with bottle of brandy in the other hand. Expression on the security guard’s face suggested I nailed the “Expat idiot/caveman” look. Think it may have been the pink socks.
Pleased with our purchases we retired to the beer cave for a reviving pression and some sliced herb sausage for elevenses, which was nice.
Came home and apologized to Jo for not concentrating on food enough. Another trip to Aigre Carrefour Contact.
Good weather and as the dechetrie was open (I checked) we stripped the roof and tacked on the felt to make it water tight again. Hard day but great to get going on this job as the leaks last month were starting to be a problem. Slow going though because none of us are confident in what we’re doing so lots of debate and discussion which is fun.

Ended the day as it had begun - in a bar. - Saw Renault and bought him a drink to say thank you for his fosse work last month. He takes strawberry syrup in his beer.
