Shall we call it: ‘Not an un-qualified success.’?
So the basic theory that when you go to wash your hands the water is warm quickly; works.
About four seconds after ‘tap on’ there is warm water. But:
Condensation from the cistern is making marks on the wall behind. The amount of warm water making it into cistern is un-measured but seems to be small from observed basin tap and audible cistern valve shut off, behaviour. -Could seal it up with silicon but ignoring it for now.
If pipe take off for loo had been upstream of basin then the four seconds of cold/wasted ‘hot’ water could be used/saved too. - Lesson is next time go ‘all in’ with hot flush plumbing.
This is all from one or two people being in the house and using the facilities. With more bodies in occupation, result will possibly be dependent upon coincidence of sequential use of loo V’s ambient air, V’s water, temps. (In winter a God send, in summer a waste. If everyone returns home after a long but well hydrated car journey and..)
I’m boring myself now. I apologise.
So I’m going to leave it as it is and we can review findings again in a few years time.
What’s this place for if not for fun?
John’s arrival has kicked progress into double time, at least. Coated the bedroom floor with gunge - which is difficult to photograph but has added something aesthetically and will give the woodworms a change:
Customs were happy with his export of proper bacon product in hand luggage - they were probably laughing - so brunch was low calorie compared with the normal pastry based options.
The gully left by tunnel ‘Dick’ across the hallway has been trial filled with cut up door mat (genius or madness, again - you decide). This stops us tripping up on it, solves the “We’ll never match those tiles.” problem and allows single limbed people to wipe their foot on the way in.
8 Euros of fire cement has fixed the kitchen stove, making it hotter and much less thirsty for fuel, so win-win there. Except the replacement saw bought after the last one died trying to keep up with it’s appetite- is mint! ..And now doesn’t need using very much.
Maybe time to light some more stoves.
Had a go at the first window surround/frame strip, clean up and prep for painting. - Half a day to do one. Four to go and not much to photograph yet but we’re optimistic that they’ll turn out well as there’s almost no rot, just neglect. And spider homes to remove.
