One of the most daring raids of WW2 has a link to where we are. The two survivors from Operation Frankton escaped by walking from Blaye to Ruffec passing close to Bouchet and through St. Fraigne on minor roads that we know well.
Walking their route at night, in winter, would be a more appropriate tribute but Adam and I are soft and nowhere near up to that. Instead, the van and scooters allowed us a tiny bit more insight into what Sparks and Hassler went through in December 1942.
It was a tough (for us) but brilliant day.
